Short Biography

Dr. Md Tanvir Hasan is currently an Associate Professor and Co-Director of Research at BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University. He is also the Co-Director of Centre of Excellence for Urban Equity and Health (CUEH) at JPGSPH, BRAC University. He has more than 11 years of teaching and research experience. He teaches Biostatistics (MPH 521) and Gender, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (MPH 660) in the Master of Public Health (MPH) Programme at BRAC JPGSPH, BRAC University. Besides teaching, he is currently leading a number of research and capacity development projects as Principal Investigator (PI)/Country Lead. A/Prof Tanvir Hasan’s research work mostly focuses on maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, violence against women and girls, adolescent health, stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS, and health and well-being of vulnerable population groups including persons with disabilities. His expertise is in advanced statistical analysis, mixed methods research, evaluation research, longitudinal study and spatial epidemiological research. He has been awarded research grants as PI/Co-PI from multiple organizations including the World Bank, World Health Organization (WHO), International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Canada, UN Women, UKaid, Open Society Foundations and Dutch Government.
